FAFSA Login 2023-24: Financial Aid and Renewal

What is FAFSA?

The FAFSA is used by the U.S. Department of Education to determine a student’s eligibility for federal grants, loans, and work-study programs, as well as some state and institutional financial aid programs. The form asks for information about a student’s income, assets, and other factors that affect their ability to pay for college. The FAFSA is an important tool for students who need financial assistance to pursue their education.

1. Go to the FAFSA website at https://fafsa.ed.gov/ or https://studentaid.gov/apply-for-aid/fafsa.
2. Click on the “LOG IN” button at the top right corner of the page.
3. On the next page, you will see three options to log in – FSA ID, Federal Student Aid, or Create Account. If you already have an FSA ID, click the first option “LOG IN” with your FSA ID. If not, you can create a new FSA ID by clicking the third option “CREATE ACCOUNT”.
4. To log in with your FSA ID, enter your username and password, and then click the “LOG IN” button. If you forgot your username or password, there are links to help you retrieve them.
5. Once you are logged in, you can start or continue your FAFSA application, view your application status, or access other tools and resources related to federal student aid.
6. If you are having trouble logging in, you can contact the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243) for assistance.

7. Once you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation page that includes your Expected Family Contribution (EFC). You will also receive an email from the Department of Education confirming your submission.
8. Be sure to check with your school to find out if there are any additional steps you need to take to complete your financial aid application.

Note: Renewal FAFSA applications are only available for students who have submitted a FAFSA application in a previous year. If this is your first time applying for financial aid, you will need to complete a new FAFSA application.

7. After you have completed all sections of the application, review your information for accuracy and completeness.
8. Submit your application by clicking the “SUBMIT” button. Once your application is submitted, you will receive a confirmation page with your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and information about next steps.
9. Be sure to check with your school to find out if there are any additional steps you need to take to complete your financial aid application.

Note: The FAFSA application must be completed annually in order to be considered for financial aid for the upcoming academic year.
